It was also my first time to watch this movie which is the beginning of how Apple and Microsoft came to be today’s technological giants. I just heard this story from other people around but now finally I saw it already. The beginning of apple started when Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniac come up with the idea of creating a computer that everyone could use and named it as apple. Then, suddenly when they can’t come up to have new ideas about their new project they go to the different big computer company to steal and gather some ideas to create their own product. After some time, apple became a big and successful computer manufacturer. Meanwhile, two other very talented men, Bill Gates and Steve Ballmer, trying to also start their own computer company (Microsoft), convinced Apple to partner up with them, trying to steal the apple’s operating system without them knowing. Bill Gates, being a very good liar, always convinced Steve Jobs to believe that Microsoft’s only goal was to benefit and serve Apple but suddenly in the end Bill Gates and his people get caught and banned to apple. After 3 months of the release of the Macintosh by Apple, Steve Jobs is fired by John Sculley from his own company. 5 years later, Jobs returns to Apple after Sculley’s resignation and creates what we all know today as the iOS (the apple mobile operating system) which was included in extremely popular products like the iPod, the Ipod touch, and the iPad.

Before we continue let me define first what technopreneurship is all about.

Technopreneurship-is a simple entrepreneurship in a technology intensive context. It is a process of merging technology prowess and entrepreneurial talent and skills.

Technopreneur is the person who destroys the existing economic order by introducing, new products and services, by creating new forms of organizations and by exploiting new raw materials. It is someone who perceives an opportunity and creates an organization to pursue it. A person who undertakes risks that has the chance of profit. Technopreneurs distinguishes themselves through their ability to accumulate and manage knowledge, as well as their ability to mobilized resources to achieve a specified business or social goal.

Entrepreneurship is a way of thinking and acting that is opportunity obsessed, holistic approach and leadership balanced for the purpose of wealth creation. Searches for change , responds to it, and exploits it as an opportunity. Innovation is the specific tool of entrepreneurs, the means by which they exploits change as an opportunity for a different business or a different service. Entrepreneurship pursuit of opportunity without regard to the resources currently under one’s control

Questions:
1.       What are the factors that contributed to the success and failure of Steve Jobs as a technopreneur?

Answer:

What Steve Jobs contributed to the success and failure as a technopreneur is that his attitude like his determination to produce his own product and to well known through his work and think that it will help the people around. Another is his vision about his company, being open-minded and his ability to put new twist on old techniques was one of the key distinguishing factors between Jobs and his competitors. Another thing is his Good Communicating Skills and charisma, Steve Jobs has the charm and ability to convince people. Mr. Jobs has the power to convince investors to have their partnership with him to make a good business production and convinced people that they need his products. On top of that he makes himself presentable in front of other people by cutting his hair off, shaving his beard and wearing business suites. Management: As I’ve seen in the movie Steve Jobs was not the main inventor but his high school friend Steve Wozniak. Even though he is not really the main inventor of their product he manages to take their business into the next level. Good management is very important in a company and Steve Jobs did a great job in managing Apple. Next is his cleverness, without this, Steve Jobs could not think innovative ideas to make great products that would help people’s lives made better. Lastly is his Passion “Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work,” says Jobs. From his first days working at his father’s workbench, Jobs knew that his future lay in the creation of things.

2.       How do you see yourself as a technopreneur?

Answer:

Seeing myself as a technopreneur is a really big thing , I really wanted to be a technopreneur someday if given a chance because of the amazing success stories I’ve heard through having their own companies and became millionaires. Although I'm not even as talented, creative and clever as Steve Jobs but I know in myself that I have the guts and the determination to risk something to become successful on my own like him. In addition I am not afraid of failures because I believe that everything happens for a reason , so failures is a great motivation to start over again and learn from it. I know this those things that I have is not enough to become as successful as theirs but I’m sure I will learn something through gathering information and experiences.

3.       Would you take the same career path that Steve Jobs took?  Why or why not?

Answer:

Taking the same career path like Steve Jobs was not that easy. But still I will strive hard to become a successful technopreneur like him and I like the way he did in his business and what he did to make it successful but it would be better if he try to treat well his staff because they also one who has a big contribution for his business, they are the one who created those products and spent all of their time to help you so it is a big factor if you treat well your staff or even your partners.
